Welcome to the Marine Science Center

Explore, Learn, Protect

Our Story

Discover the incredible marine life of Volusia County and the ecosystems that make this area unique at the Marine Science Center. Through engaging, hands-on experiences, visitors can observe sea turtle and seabird rehabilitation, explore interactive exhibits, and learn how conservation, education, and stewardship work together to protect local wildlife.

The Marine Science Center is home to fully functioning animal hospitals where injured and sick sea turtles, seabirds, and other native reptiles receive expert care. From the Turtle Terrace overlooking rehabilitation pools to live animal presentations and daily feeding talks, visitors can see conservation in action while learning how these animals are treated, rehabilitated, and ultimately returned to the wild.

Beyond the exhibits, the Marine Science Center offers a wide range of educational opportunities for all ages. Interactive galleries, live presentations, seasonal programs, and classroom experiences help connect visitors to Florida’s coastal environment. Young learners can explore marine life through programs like Turtle Tots, while students and families can take part in daily presentations featuring turtles, reptiles, raptors, and seabirds.

Nestled within the natural maritime hammock of Ponce Inlet, the Marine Science Center’s grounds offer opportunities to experience nature beyond the building walls. A short nature trail, bird boardwalk, and observation tower provide peaceful views of surrounding wetlands and native wildlife, encouraging visitors to slow down, observe, and connect with the environment that the Center works to protect.
